Grass and residues instead of maize

Client: BiPro GmbH

Location: 88353 Kißleg

Challenge

At a small farm near Lake Constance, the feed system of the 150 kW biogas plant had to be converted so that grass and residues such as manure could be used instead of expensive maize.

Solution

Brandt developed a concept for the conversion, manufactured all elements and commissioned them on site. The new solids feed system consists of a compact modular unit. At the heart of the modular unit is the LEF 40 m³ (Low Energy Feeder), a solids feed system with a particularly energy-efficient, robust and low-maintenance design with an integrated weighing unit. An automated dosing system intelligently controls the dosing quantity and times, thereby reducing agitator costs. The MaCBox (Mix and Cut in a Box) for efficient mixing and comminution of fibrous materials to a pumpable size ensures efficient feeding of the fermenter with a homogeneous biosuspension.

Thanks to the successful substrate change and efficient, cost-effective operation, the biogas plant achieves significantly higher profitability and is thus well positioned for the future.

Brandt installed a compact module unit consisting of the LEF 40 m3 solids inlet, the MaCBox, pump, piping and control cabinet.
